Your Innkeeper Cherie's description of the Rose Room:
When a room is taking shape or changing in appearance, I wait for the furnishings and art to tell me a story. The story of the Rose room is one of travel, and settling in a new land. The ornate headboard is a family heirloom that has traveled many miles to end up here on Maui. This piece is carved mahogany a long ways from it's origin in the Philippines. This headboard plays off the very simple and clean lines of vintage Maui Plantation era desk and shelving wardrobe. Cabinets that are practical in nature always capture my attention. The workers of the Plantations were often craftsman who also built their own pie safes, and bookcases. I don't know what the wardrobe was originally used for, but, I see it as a perfect place for the guests of the Rose room to store their belongs during their stay. A comfy rocker and day bed offer respite and a great place to relax and read.
The original fir floor has retained it's natural color in this room, which I find so warm and inviting. The stories of this floor must be plentiful. The mom of 15 children had this room for her own, and there is much character in the worn spots lacing this vintage floor.
The room opens to the shared lanai with a front row view of one of Maui's largest and oldest magnificent Norfolk Pines. Listen to the wind in the branches when you comfortably sleep with the window open.
An original claw foot tub still graces the bathroom. Not fancy or modern, but practical and comfortable, the private bath has all a guest needs.
